I find it disappointing that there aren't enough local free gigs/festivals. I went to one yesterday, picked up 3 EPs off some really talented bands and got a 4th one this morning; the fourth band are incredible and I'm hopefully going to see them in November.
What do you guys think; cities/towns should do more free gigs/festivals so people can get to know the local talent?
I understand that some bands find it annoying if they don't get paid, but none of the bands yesterday seemed to care; they only cared about playing music for old and new fans alike.

ya i think that there should be more local bands playing.
like my friends and their band are trying to look for other bands so they can put a show or something.
my friends band is doing covers for now.
they are playing thursday at school during the lunch hours for part of the forthcoming spirit week.
so maybe that's were people will get to know how good they are.

But yeah, it would be ideal if more local gigs/festivals were free. Yet I understand it would be difficult for bands just starting out; they need all the money they can get.
